I’m publishing a major rewrite and expansion of The Mad Throne, my sword-and-sorcery novel first published by CBS/Popular Library wayyy bak in 1978, as the centerpiece of my Patreon launch.

The first part is up already; there are five more, coming out about every two weeks in early 2018, and you can get your own copy by pledging as little as a buck a month. You can take a look at it right here

There’s much more coming, too! Original weird tales in audio only, stories told in tweets or on postcards, talks with fascinating people about everything from Superman to phone sex … and that’s just the beginning. Take a look! We’re having a great time over on Patreon!

It’s time for Patreon

I’ve been writing a lot of short pieces recently (maybe the eight-jillion-word craziness of the three books of Rain knocked the long form out of me for a while). And I’be been messing with other media too: audio (again), weird little super-short videos, telling stories in Tweets and even on postcards. So Patreon seems the perfect place to share that, and to build a community of people who like the weird stuff (did that sound right? Take a look … you might enjoy Patreon.

It never rains in Dos Hermanos, California … until one day when the sky opens up and it just won’t stop. Worse yet: after midnight, things start to come out of the rain: eyeless creatures, all edges and teeth, in a thousand different forms. Who will live? Who will die? And who will learn the secrets of The Rain?

A single mother who will do anything — anything — to return to her baby … a group of barflies forced to fight monsters even as their dive drifts away … A brave Latino family trapped in a nightmare who must fight the creatures and each other just to survive. Who will live? Who will die? And who will hear the voices hiding inside the Storm?

No one can escape the horrors hiding inside the rain. A hospital is drowning in monsters and their own insanity … a school is struggling to help the town’s children escape before the water rises to claim them all … and a mysterious man is walking into the storm instead of out. Will he survive? And who will discover the final secrets of the Storm?

Continuing the story that Z.A. Recht began! The shamblers and sprinters created by The Morningstar Strain have taken over the world, but the last survivors of the United States aren’t giving up. Now they begin to pull themselves together, to beat  backthe hordes of the undead and begin to reclaim the future. The second Morningstar trilogy starts here!

WolfCop was a super-cool indie horror film out of the wilds of Canada … and Fleshmob is an all-new story starring many of its greatst characters, as well as some crazy new members of the cast (including a punk-Wiccan dream girl who’s one of the best people I ever made). Wish there were more … but enjoy this on Amazon, in e-form only!

On sale now in e-book form only (don’t ask me!) from Permuted Press. Click here for more!

The brilliant photographer Angela Ortiz S. took the pictures; I wrote the odd little annotations for each. There are a limited number of copies available, signed by both of us. Worth every dollar and twice that!

A brand new site — one that actually works

It’s the classic tale of the cobbler whose children have no shoes: it’s taken me literally years to get around to making a halfway decent web site for myself, to go along with the Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts and really do try to keep current. So from now on: news of new projects, promotions, give-aways, all that stuff. Subscriber to the newsletter, follow the social media, and buy the books (inluding the used books!) right here. Nothin’ but fun. Get to it.

You can drop me a note here any time …

Out of print (but I can get you a copy!)

Order here (and not anywhere else, please)

A behind-the scenes look at a multi-million-dollar fantasy blockbuster that was almost good and almost a hit (but writing the book was a blast!)

The old Mad Throne. Like forty years old, man. Don’t buy this. Wait until the newimproved version is available through Patreon.
